    abstract

The long-term cold war between the United States of America and the former Soviet Union ironically led to the scientific advances we today have in the world of space. The end of this cold war brought about the sowing of the seed of peaceful interdependence among nations in space research and exploration. Today, this seed of peaceful interdependence is being threatened by a new space race between China and the United States of America. This work focuses on the new space race between China and the United States of America – a race that is a threat to the seed of interdependence sown after the end of the cold war. It talks briefly on the history of space race between United States of America and the former Soviet Union. It then discusses briefly on some major interdependence and cooperation among nations in space research and exploration, and the benefits of such interdependence and cooperation. It further discusses the new space race between China and the United States of America and its impact on states interdependence in space research and exploration. It gives recommendations and a conclusion.
