    abstract

It is necessary for human beings to establish a lunar biosphere similar to the biosphere on the earth in order to realize long-term habitation, which will make it possible to exploit the resources on the moon. This paper analyzed the environmental factors on the lunar surface and other factors with the existing investigation data; selected the appropriate location on the moon to set up the lunar biosphere; and designed two kinds of conceptual architecture configurations. Moreover, comprehensively considering the functions and running manners of the lunar biosphere, we designed the internal configuration of the lunar biosphere and divided the whole system into several parallel subsystems. Each subsystem was mainly composed of six parts: human habitation, cultivation, resource storage, food and water processing, wastes treatment and wastes storage; these parts was connected with each other through mass exchange and would run circularly. Besides becoming one system, these subsystems possess independence, i.e. they can be isolated from each other and run independently when accidents happen. In terms of space distribution, the highest efficiency was achieved with the optimizations towards the system structure. The extensibility of the system’s scale was also considered on the aspect of functions, and the processing of lunar soil using earth worm was designed.
