    abstract

Design Study of an Earth Satellite Evolving from a Four-Step Solid Propellent Eocket Vehicle. As the title itself suggests this paper deals with the use of solid propellents for all the stages of a satellite launching rocket vehicle. The first section deals with the description of the vehicle which will be employed in the launching. The second part deals with the most important portion of the paper, viz. the launching sequence and the control of the trajectory. Various methods which have been employed for the controlled flight of solid propellent rockets are discussed. Details of experiments done in this field are also given. The final chapter gives a description of the 50 Kg. satellite, and its instrumentation. The instrumentation of the satellite is divided into two parts; the first part consists of a number of measuring instruments along with telemetering transmitters. It is the second part that will be of great interest, as it will be a solid propellent rocket placed at the top of the satellite section. The rocket is intended to escape the earth after the satellite has gone into orbit. The experiment will show the possibility of orbital launching. The paper also contains an appendix where the details of a smaller satellite vehicle, on which development work is on progress, is given.
