The separable payload control system (SPCS) is a cold gas reaction jet system developed to provide three-axis orientation of sounding rocket payloads. The system is compatible with solar, stellar/planetary, inertial or magnetic error sensors arid provides experimenters with a versatile and high-accuracy vehicle for orientation of research instruments. Pointing accuracies of 2 and 15 arc sec are typical for the solar and stellar/planetary versions. Data acquisition time is 4 to 5 min.
