    abstract

During May, 1976, a Bicentennial Salute in model rockets was fired by physical science students at Melbourne High School. Because 200 firings were planned by five classes of various abilities during only four school days, a multiple- rocket launch pad was needed. The science research class designed the experiment by planning overall instrumentâtion and firing circuitry requirements, safety, and range use guidelines for other classes; constructing one multiple-launch system; laying out range; and coordinating with local safety organizations. Instrumentation and rockets were constructed by all classes. Evaluation includes class participant ion, problems, learning experiences which resulted from the firings.
