    abstract

The utilization of geostationary orbit is coming to its full capacity in the arcs at certain longitudes. The geostationary chain satellites will expand the geostationary resource from this one dimensional arc into a two dimensional doughnut-like-disk. The chain of satellites, each satellite being a few thousand kolo- meters apart, tethered and aligned along the local vertical, will be stabilized at the altitude of the geosynchronous orbital speed. The system mass properties and the tether disruption probabilities are analyzed to show the feasibility of the system.
