A class of finite elements is developed to analyze laminated anisotropic plates for deflections, stresses, natural frequencies and buckling loads. Particular attention is paid to accurate evaluation of strain field, especially transverse shear strain, due to the 3-D character of the problem. Several problems are studied, showing the effect of the aspect ratio and of the Young modulus to shear modulus ratio on bending, vibration and stability of the plate. The numerical results are compared with those available by classical laminate theory (CLT).
