The Sasakawa International Center for Space Architecture (SICSA) is a research, planning and design organization which is part of the University of Houston’s Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture. SICSA offers academic programs within the college that are open to advanced undergraduate students (4th and 5th year level) and graduate students. Many of these students receive Research Assistantships which provide financial support, and afford opportunities to gain valuable experience working on SICSA’s client- sponsored projects. SICSA addresses issues, requirements and concepts associated with extreme environments in space and on Earth. Included are orbiting space stations, planetary missions and facilities, polar research stations, and offshore structures and habitats. This report presents a brief overview of representative programs and activities.
