    abstract

This paper describes the new development, test and verification framework F.A.C.E. (Future Avionics Computing Environment) developed at Astrium GmbH/Munich in the frame of GammaBus, a DLR-funded development program for telecommunication application. The F.A.C.E. framework provides an on-board runtime system, a sophisticated development tool chain and ground support equipment. The environment supports on-board software development from early design stages to ground station support via on-board computer simulation or flight hardware in the loop. The design and development of F.A.C.E. is based on the experience gathered in programs like Globalstar, Spacebus and Flexbus.
